Digital twins are more than just digital replicas of their physical twins. They can represent the environment in real-time with the right data, and can be trained to show what if modelling, scenario simulations and asset management monitoring.

Victoria Road Decision Support System

A digital twin that enables intelligent decision support to live traffic management for Sydney's Victoria Road corridor, one of the busiest in the Sydney metro area.

The digital twin builds a digital replica of the corridor at microscopic level and ingests real-time sensor data feeds that capture traffic, congestion, control signals, and public transport operations.

The digital twin then utilizes live simulation engine to forecast traffic conditions for the next 4 hrs, helping traffic operators to make informed decisions for planned and unplanned events.

Gateway Bridge SHM

A structural health monitoring (SHM) system for critical asset management.

In this example, a SHM system has been installed to monitor Brisbane's iconic Gateway Bridge. The SHM uses a network of smart sensors to monitor at high frequencies the vibration, strain, and thermal conditions of the bridge.

Sensor data are streamed to a cloud data platform where raw data are processed, transformed, and prepared for the ingestion by various applications.

Central to the SHM are the predictive models developed using machine learning techniques. The models are able to detect anomalies from sensory data and issue health scores for every monitored substructure of the bridge.

The SHM transforms the practice of critical asset management from preemptive, reactive maintenance towards condition-based, proactive maintenance.

SCATS Integration

Enable next gen SCATS with digital twin and simulation.

Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) is a leading solution globally to urban traffic control, being used by more than 100 cities internationally. The latest development of SCATS pivots on digital twinning and the integration with urban transport management system.

We have worked closely with the SCATS team to develop and deploy a decision support system that integrates SCATS data feed, SCATSIM (control simulator), and SCATS Cornerstone with live traffic simulation, augmented by predictive models powered by machine learning techniques.

The outcome is a new capability that helps the traffic operators to predict the cumulative impact of network events and rapid response to mitigate adverse situation.
